TITO

This short film, having been exclusively featured on STAB magazine’s channel, highlights a young upcoming surfer from Dominican Republic, Nicholas de la Cruz.

In his hometown, Cabarete, Nicholas goes by the name “Tito”. Just a few months prior to this video, he traveled to the ISA surfing competition in attempt to represent his country in the olympics. To everyone’s dismay, he was not given the opportunity to compete and represent his town. However for those who know Tito, he is extremely dedicated and was already thinking about how he could improve and grow.

Having grown up with Tito, I wanted to make a short video that might get some eyes on him and help push him to the next step in his career. Given that I was moving from Cabarete, we had a limited time to pull off this project with limited days of swell…

Tito and I, had our eyes peeled on the forecast, constantly evaluating possible novelty waves we might score. Although we did not score any lucky summertime swells, we made some great memories traveling to some beautiful locations and breaks with no crowds.

Thanks to the help of George Harper and STAB magazine we were able to put together and publish a video of Tito doing what he does best with an original soundtrack by Vol. X.
